Better than new

This W900 belongs to a friend out of the Salt Lake City area.

The Kenworth has been in continuous operation since it was purchased several years ago, with 3.5 million miles on her chassis, you could say it has earned its keep.

It was down over the holidays last winter to be refurbished again. The truck was painted and had all the mechanicals gone through on the truck, including a brand-new crate Caterpillar to replace the original powerplant. Mike did not mention if he replaced the interior on the truck, but it would not surprise me that he did.

A truck can cost around $180,000 for a brand-new machine. That comes saddled with an E.L.D. and D.E.F. system two of the least favorite things in the trucking community. I would believe the cost to refurbish the truck was substantially less than new. It is a trend amongst owner operators, and a few business owners that run multiple trucks.

I know if I were an owner operator, I would have the coolest, custom, rolling billboard you ever seen rolling down the interstate.
