Going out on a run - Part seven the pick

Writer's picture: Sean McCoySean McCoy

To get loaded we had to drive to a gated research, development, and build facility outside Cedar City Utah. That is where machine four was waiting for us to come and get it. One problem often faced by many a truck driver is incorrect dimensions, or specifications on the machine. Ricardo took this machine to Pennsylvania earlier in the year, he was no stranger to it. Machine four had been sent back to be fixed and modified as all machines are while in development. Luckily, they had not added a lot of weight to it and the permits we had were going to be just fine. When ordering permits for an oversized load Ricardo will give himself a little more than he needs weight wise just in case it is off.

We got to the pick around lunch time and my client was there to meet me. He was always impressed every time I showed up in a truck, and this time was no different. While I was chatting with the client, Ricardo was busy getting hooked up and doing the pre-trip inspection while we talked business.

It was not long before, I climbed back up in the cab of that Peterbilt and we made tracks out of the gate to start a two-day run to Sacramento California.
