The scoundrel



When I first started, I had a friend who taught me the business and, in the process, he showed me the wrong way to handle it. I worked with him for about two years, so I got to see and hear a lot of bad choices.

The thing I saw him do that displeased me was he would lie about anything to fill his pockets. I am too honest of a guy to conduct business that way and I pride myself on being the broker people want to trust. Sometimes that comes with hard truths like the truck broke down in Wyoming and cannot get fixed until Tuesday. Nobody wants to hear that but I need to be honest about whatever is going on so a customer can make the best choice on how to handle it.

Now the next thing I want to talk about is taking care of my folks that work for me. His opinion was he could always find another truck. Me I like having connections that trust me and want to work for me because I took care of them. Those people seek me out again and again because I have a great reputation for being one of the few good freight brokers out there. One might think I overpay for my tucks but that is not the case I am just not taking advantage of everyone that works for me. I pay a fair wage for a job to be done and no more.
